Correlation between morphological changes in gingival tissues and increased concentration of lipid peroxides in the course of experimental paradontitis in rats

The picture of morphological anomalies observed in gingival tissues of rats in the course of experimental parodontitis induced with cotton ligature was reflected in non-specific, degenerative-inflammatory changes, which were acute in phase I of the experiment and chronic in phase II. These changes co-occurred with elevated level of malonic dialdehyde in parodontal soft tissues which suggested that the processes of lipid peroxidation play an important role in aetiology of parodontal diseases.
