Chronic results of HCV infection constitute an important clinical problem. Its importance has not yet been fully recognised, and therapeutic possibilities are limited. Since several years interferon has been administered as the basic drug. Clinical studies are carried out in order to improve its efficacy by combining this drug with other antiviral drugs, by modifying the dose and treatment duration, and by preventing chronic liver diseases through the inclusion of interferon in treatment of acute virus C hepatitis.
