This study assesses the usefulness and accuracy of two morphometric formulas applied to the calculation of fetal weight. The first formula (Formula 1) uses biparietal diameter (BPD) and abdomenal circumference (AC), whereas, the second formula (Formula 2) uses BPD, abdomenal diameter (AD) and femoral length (FL). We found that Formula 1 assesses the fetal weight in 65.4% of cases with a 90% accuracy, whereas Formula 2 assessed the weight in 49.3% of cases. We also show that Formula 1 has a wider application to fetal weight estimation than Formula 2.
