Activity of tyrosine kinase of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr-TK) in human psoriatic epidermis

We evaluated the activity of tyrosine kinase of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr-TK) in psoriasis and in 'seemingly unchanged' skin surrounding pathological changes in relation to the disease intensification measured with PASI index. The study included 16 men aged 22 - 68 (mean age 40.2±13.9 years). Psoriatic scales and 'seemingly unchanged' human skin were obtained by means of biopsy and subsequently homogenised. The activity of EGFr-TK in tissue homogenates was assessed through the method of transfer of g[32P] ATP catalysed by tyrosine kinase onto the peptide being a specific substrate for EGFr-TK. We observed lower activity of tyrosine kinase (p0.06) in examined patients.
