Influence of cyclosporin A on the lipolytic and proteolytic activity of yeast-like fungi strains (in vitro)

We used 166 Candida albicans strains isolated, from women with chronic vulvovaginitis candidiasis previously treated with many antifungal agents. 114 strains with lipolytic and proteolytic activity were used, in order to assess the influence of cyclosporin A on the enzymatic activity. The proteolytic activity of Candida albicans strains was determined by means of Steib's medium. Werner's medium was used in the dermination of the lipolytic activity. We noted a significant decrease of Candida albicans lipolytic and proteolytic activity under the influence of cyclosporin A. Changes of lipolytic and proteolytic activity under CsA influence may explain th anticandidal activity of this drug.
