Two rare cases of benign gastric tumours initially suspected for early carcinoma forms eventually underwent very minimal surgery procedures thanks to preoperative endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). Authors analyse different diagnostic procedures in preoperative work-up of benign tumours, emphasising the value and simplicity of EUS. Negative endoscopic biopsies of gastric tumours should always be an indication for EUS in view of a possible benign character of the lesion. Pathology result still remains the final diagnosis.
