The aim of the paper was to evaluate the incidence rate of the so called Hyrtl's anastomoses in umbilical arteries and some dimensions of these anastomoses. On the basis of corrosion casts of human placental blood vessels and casts of umbilical cord the lengths and diameters of anastomotic vessels were measured. It was found that umbilical arteries anastomose with each other in the immediate vicinity of the placenta in 92.4% of the cases. It was also noticed that the length of anastomosis most frequently ranged from 10 to 16 mm, whereas anastomosis lumen lumen diameter - from 2.5 to 3.5 mm.
