Figure 1 CONSORT flow diagram. Five of 72 patients declined to participate in the study. The patients were grouped by presence or absence of carotid atherosclerosis plaques before surgery. Five patients in groups were lost to follow-up because of pain and bleeding. The CAM was used by trained medical staff to diagnose postoperative delirium on postoperative days 1, 2, and 3.
