Abstract
There exists a conviction stating that a defect in the immunological system of patients with atopic dermatitis influences the impaired development of contact eczema. Our study tried to demonstrate the number of positive reactions towards common contact allergens in patients with Atopical Dermatitis (AD) and to analyze the correlation between clinical symptoms and biochemistry results. We performed skin patch tests (European Standard Series) and prick tests (inhalatory and food allergens-Nexter Allergopharma) according to Hanifin, Rajka criteria in 20 healthy adult patients aged 30 years (average), who underwent clinical evaluation. We assessed the total IgE level as well as the number of blood eosinophils and basophils. We noted positive contact reactions with potassium dichromate (35%), Balsam of Peru (25%), Nickel sulphate (20%), and Para-phenylediamine (15%). A simultaneous hypersensitivity towards 2-6 allergens was noted in 45% of the tested patients. The only positive correlation that we noted existed between positive skin patch tests and the patients age. A negative correlation existed in the case of positive prick tests (r=0.413 p
