Impaired immunity against tetanus in Type 2 Diabetes.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare serum levels of tetanusantibody in diabetic patients over 50 years of age with those of age- and sex-matched non-diabetic controls.Material/Methods: The study population consisted of 115 type 2 diabetic patients and 115 age- and sex-matchednon-diabetic patients. Serum levels of tetanus IgG were measured by a commercial ELISA kit, and levelsover 0.1 IU/ml were considered protective.
